|The Houston Texans are members of the AFC South Division. Founded as an expansion team in 2002, the Texans are virtual greenhorns in the NFL family. The Texans fill the emptiness that was left when the Houston Oilers relocated and became the Tennessee Titans. Several names were initially considered for the Houston team, but Texans was eventually selected as a moniker that properly represented the community. The Texans boldly embody their region of origin with a bull’s head logo that touts the colors of the Texas state flag.
The new franchise’s initial game against intrastate rivals the Dallas Cowboys was a victory, sending demand for Houston Texans tickets into overdrive. The Texans struggled during their first several seasons, but finished with 0.500 records in 2007 and 2008. The Texans had a winning 9-7 season in 2009, just missing out on qualifying for the playoffs.
The Texans won their first division title and made their first playoff appearance in 2011. In 2012, the team became a menace in the AFC South, starting off the season with an 11-1 record. The Texans struggled near the end of the season but won their second division title and made it to the second round of the playoffs. Being newcomers doesn’t stop the rivalries from piling up on the Texans’ division doorstep against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts. With more play under their helmets with every game, the Houston Texans are a team to watch.
Notable Houston Texans include J.J. Watt, Arian Foster and Andre Johnson.
The team’s home field is NRG Stadium (formerly Reliant Stadium), which is located in Houston, Texas. The stadium holds over 70,000 fans and was host to Super Bowl XXXVIII. It is the first facility in the NFL to have a retractable roof. Buy your Houston Texans tickets now to see one of the NFL’s newest teams make their place in football history!
