| The Indianapolis Colts became an official NFL team in 1953 when, based out of Maryland, they were known as the Baltimore Colts. In 1984 the team relocated to Indiana. A current member of the AFC South, the team has won numerous division, conference and league championships, including two Super Bowl Championship titles, from the time of their inception. Since their relocation to the Midwest, the Colts have accumulated an intensely devoted fan base and more than a few equally fierce contentions. Historical rivalries for the franchise date back to the 1950s and include the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins. A recent addition to the Colts’ rivalries include hearty East Coast competitor the New England Patriots. The Colts play home games at Lucas Oil Stadium, which is situated in Indianapolis, Indiana.
